Bath Robe

A bath robe has to be the most comfortable piece of clothing that you can wear inside your house. A bath robe comes in all shapes, sizes, colors and fabrics. The most common bath robe is made of silk. Silk is composed of fibrion and it’s one of the most expensive materials found on the market. Silk bath robes are preferred because they are light and ideal in the summer time.

The soft material falls gently on the skin creating a pleasant feeling. It is not recommended that you put on a silk robe after you take a bath because silk does not absorb the water on your body. It’s more of a gown that you can put on you body on those lazy summer morning when the weather outside seems unbearable.

Another material which is commonly used in the fabrication of bath robes is cotton. Since they use a lot of cellulose in the fabrication process, the cotton bath robe does a much better job at absorbing the water from you body. You can pun on this kind of bathroom after taking a shower or going for a swim as is has pretty much the same texture like that of a towel. In the manufacturing process of the bath robe, micro fiber is also used.

Micro fiber bath robes are composed of polyester and cellulose and they were made in order to be light and soft to the touch, pretty much like the ones made is silk. Actually they are a combination between the silk and the cotton bath robes as the micro fiber is also good for water absorption. There are also some bath robes made of wool but they are generally sold in countries with cold climates.

The bath robes can also have different types of collars. One of the most common types of  collar is the shawl collar. Just like the name suggests it, it pretty much wraps around you neck like a shawl. Another style is the kimono, the most comfortable type of gown you can wear when it get way too hot outside. It does not have a collar which keeps the neck refreshed. There is also the hooded bath robe which simply has a hood sewn right at the base of the neckline. The hood can be pulled over your head when your hair is dry, to replace a towel. Bath robes can also be separated according to the shape of their weave.

Here we have another 4 categories: the flannel (soft woven fabric), the terry (it has uncut loops on both sides and it is also used for bath towers), the velour (they are generally made with terry inside because it absorbs water better) and the waffle (it has a grid like appearance and they are mainly designed for their light weight). As you can see, even choosing a bathrobe can be sometimes difficult as you never know if you are going to need one to absorb water an keep you warm or another one that is light weight and makes you feel cool and refreshed in the summer time so all I can say is… get one of each!
