Bath Robes

A bath robe is also called a housecoat or a dressing gown. A bathrobe is usually made from absorbent fabric or toweling. Serving both as an informal garment and a towel. The men wear dress gowns and women wear housecoat. These clothes are provided with belts and you can use them in the morning, when you get up or can even be worn over the clothes when you are partially dressed. Derived from the 18th-century the wearing of a dressing gown became a regular habit. The Japanese kimono is worn during summer as a bath robe.

Different fabrics are used in manufacturing bath robes: -  cotton - is one of the most commonly used fibres and is a natural fibres. Cotton bathrobes are frequently used by the pool, beach or following a shower and they absorb water easily due to the polarity of cellulose. Cotton tends to absorb perspiration and are especially suited to use in hot climates.

-  Silk – is produced by the secretions of certain insect larvae and is composed mainly of fibroin making it a fine lustrous fibre. Due to the cost of producing silk these kinds of bathrobes can be relatively expensive. Such bathrobes are very lightweight and thin. Because of the polarity necessary to absorb water and due o the fact that they lack the surface area, these bathrobes are not particularly suited to wet environments. Since they are not worn after bathing, silk dressing gowns are the traditional choice.

-  Microfibre - made of polyester  or cellulose , is a fine synthetic fibre. Modern microfibres are developed to maximise water absorption and breath-ability. Can you believe that is even thinner than the human hair?

A good way to avoid mussing clothing while doing your hair or brushing your teeth, is putting on a bath robe. Covering from just above the knees and under arms, women's towel style bathrobes are larger. Bathrobes may be thin and silky or thick and luxurious. There is a vast array of lengths, fabrics and styles. One style is perfect for warmer weather while another is just right for colder months. You can find bathrobes for every climate or season that’s how many styles you have to choose from.
