Giving A Guinea Pig A Bath

In a mature guinea pig, claws will be checked once in months, and the tops will be cut. They do not like those wild claws, their regular care is needed. When giving a guinea pig a bath, we will wrap it in a towel, or we will keep with his back to us cutting its claws keeping him in the lap. That will become calmer, quieter. Cutting-colored veins to see the guerrillas: claws will go out so that you have a distance of 1, 5 to 2 mm of vein. At the foot of dark can not see the veins in the claws on it will cut more often, least of claws peaks. If, accidentally, I cut the vein, we will wash this place with a little hydrogen peroxide or Beta dines solution to prevent an infection. Be cautious as the claws will be cut slightly obliquely, leaving the top slightly longer. If we do, we help the veterinarian.

Claws not cut in time, grow inward, causing nuisance if they are too long, even pain pig. Veins of claws grow with claws, cut in time will be much harder to correct. When we cut claws and often the peaks, return to the right length without a cut in the vein. Generally guinea pig do not like being given a bath and is not recommended as shampoo (soap) away from the skin's natural fats. Bathroom we will do only if it is absolutely necessary. In this case we use shampoo few (children), and we will not wet your head. We will be careful to eyes, nose and ears and it will dry very well, otherwise it can cool. With sensitive skin, we will be careful to dry the coat. Dryer will hold off the fur, or we will adjust to a smaller step of temperature and brave. Avoid wherever possible giving a guinea pig a bath under 2 months, the females pregnant or nursing pigs! If this is not possible, bathing in these categories will be without shampoo or soap.

Let's weigh the guinea pig body! If an adult pokies from week to week decreases weight approx. 50 grams, it's good to be more closely monitored - appetite, behavior, urine, chair and general condition. How many grams does it have? If in a week falls 80 grams or more (!), It may be a sign of disease, a dental problem / mouth, a stressful factor, a sudden change (menu, environmental, other) that has caused this fall. If you drop from week to week is over 100 grams, a doctor, as soon as possible will be absolutely necessary!
