Homemade Bath Salts

It may sound amazing, but homemade bath salts are very easy for you to make yourself at home. You don’t need a special workshop in the back yard; all you need is a table and the necessary tools and ingredients. Not only can you create your own bath salt but you can also wrap them up so nice and gift them and the look like they’ve been bought from a store.

In order to make homemade bath salts you are going to need some Epsom salt, sea salt, baking soda, food coloring, about 1 or 2 teaspoon of glycerin (for every jar) and essential oils – lavender, patchouli, mandarin orange and sandalwood. If you want to decorate the jars you are going to have to print the jar labels, you will need glue, scissors, some colored ribbon, preferably to match the color of the salt put inside the jar, tacky glue and some household twine. I believe that you have most of these materials at home.

Most bath recipes allow you to mix Epsom salt with sea salt and baking soda. Mix one cup of the Epsom salt 3 tablespoons of baking soda and ¼ cup of sea salt. The salt helps relax the tired muscles, allowing you to create your very own little spa corner at home. Each jar can be filled after you have combined the salts you want in each recipient. Now you can add the glycerin if you want. Choose the essential oil for each jar and then pour it in. You choose the number of drops. Repeat the process with the food coloring.

Specifically, let’s see how you can decorate the jar with the mandarin orange bath salts. You can decorate the lid with orange ribbon placed in such a manner that it covers the top. Cover the lid in a coat of tacky glue and the then start placing the ribbon over the lid. You can use one strip of rim to cover the edges of the ribbon. After beginning the whole process, you can keep the jars in hot water as it helps to take out the original labels they had and clean the jar free of any glue. This is essential so the jar will be clean and so you can put your very own label on it. The label can be found on the internet or you can simply create your own with a personalized message if you want to give out a really special gift.

The same process can be repeated for all the other bath salts which you have made but remember that the label and the color of the ribbon has to match the color of the food coloring used in order to create a pleasant visual effect. As you can see, the process is very easy and you only have to follow a few steps. The personalized gives are definitely the most special so you can add a Happy Birthday wish on the label and even write the name of the person that gets to receive the gift.
