Sitz Bath
The thing with this type of bath is that you soak your pelvic region into hot water. This is great for people that suffered episiotomies or a peritoneum operation of a fresh mother or even for people with hemorrhoids. There are special bathtubs designed for this treatment as you have to stay in a proper position, with your knees bend. You can also take the sitz bath in a regular bathtub even if they say it’s not that hygienic.

This type of bath lasts around 10 or 20 minutes and it is usually recommended by a doctor to his patients. There are different types of sitz baths. Some of them simply fit over a toilet and they have a drain so the excess water does not leak on the floor when you sit in it. Other types of baths fit on the top of a chair. If you don’t have any of these, you could improvise and use a large dish tub which should about do the trick.
The cleaning part is very important when you are taking a sitz bath. If you plan on using a special dish tub it is recommended that you buy a new one and use it only for this kind of purpose. The regular bath tub should be properly cleaner before and after taking a sitz bath in order to prevent spreading any kind of infection. If you want to buy a special sitz bath, know that it will not be very expensive.

As usual, the more basic the model looks, the cheaper it will be. There are baths that provide a constant flow of hot water, just like a swimming poll and those models are a bit more expensive. It really doesn’t matter which model you choose because you don’t need the current hot water flow since a sitz bath only lasts up to 20 minutes so any kind of sitz bath model will do the job just fine.
If you have the possibility, ask someone to help you when you are taking sitz bath. Apparently patients get a feeling of dizziness when they get up from the ht water and we know that accident happening inside the bath can sometimes be the ugliest.

We wouldn’t want you to slip and fall and eventually hit your head so it’s always better when you have a helping hand in the house. As you can see, a sitz bath is recommended for most problems in the pelvic region and sometimes it is even a great idea for girls and women that are having menstrual cramps. It really helps ease up the pain and it’s healthier than taking pills.
